In our culture we are subconsciously conditioned to fear the wolf, and to see wolves as bad. It’s wrong and has exacerbated persecution of wolves. The Little Red Riding Hood story is the source of some of this conditioning, which has affected multitudes from a young age. Stuff we learn when we are young can get deeply embedded in our subconscious, affecting the rest of our lives unless we ‘clear’ our subconscious minds of unhelpful material.
As children we may have learned to ‘be careful if we go down to the woods’. (Unfortunate thinking also, because being in nature can be a wonderful thing; good for our health, mental health and more).
We need to be wary of the ‘big bad person’ instead.
And careful when we go down to the shops.
Especially the grocery store.
Lots of people want your money, all the while damaging the health of you and your loved ones.
Bastards yes? Scum perhaps? Yet they smile in their corporate offices and often wear suits; looking oh so respectable.
So who are these people, how do we ‘spot’ them and how do we safeguard our health?
To begin, we need to decide to seek truth from our inner core, regardless of our feelings, opinion or bias. When we have decided to seek truth it is easier for the reality of life to start cutting through the delusion with which so many of us are affected.

It’s good that this former executive has helped society and spilled the beans on the food industry, though some of us have been aware of this kind of thing for decades. Yes, decades. Kudos and gratitude to him.
Simple version: Big food is driven by profit, big food does not genuinely care about your health and big food likes to appear respectable, responsible and ethical. Big food runs on deception.
Big food puts huge effort and money into psychology (how to manipulate and deceive you), chemistry (such as: ‘correct’ use of sugar and salt are ways of maximising consumption and profits), marketing and more, so they can take advantage of you, your lack of knowledge, your weaknesses and so on.
And big food can be cruel too. Look into how factory farmed pigs and chickens are treated. More here: Aussie Farms and Animals Australia (I only buy genuinely free range or organic pork, eggs and poultry. We are omnivores and biologically meant to eat meat as part of our diet. Being vegetarian or vegan is not the ‘answer’).
Focus on learning about good nutrition. Be wary of fads and sloppy thinking. Good thinking and research takes an effort. Start building better nutrition into your life bit by bit. Your body will respond and start to heal. Swop some junky so-called ‘treat’ with delicious fruit for example. Drink more water.
Learn about the psychology of marketing, deception. Nothing complicated; just the key points.
Learn about food chemistry. Again, nothing complicated; just the essence (pun intended) of what can make people eat more food in general, and more of the bad stuff. (Hints: look into salt, sugar and money).
Learn about the science of how our bodies work. Yet again, the simple stuff. Add to your knowledge daily and honour (do) it.
Remember…big food is trying to affect and deceive you in ways that you are unaware of. So many of us think we can think clearly and that others will not be able to take advantage of us. Humility is a good defence, among other things. (I love being humble, but all the reasons why are beyond the scope of this article – humility’s help in gaining wisdom is just one).
Your health is your most important asset. Guard it well or spend more time suffering and/or die earlier etc.
Be careful when you go down to the grocery store today; big bad food will get you if it can.
